About Memory Training

In order to properly address anything about memory training we need to know something about cognitive behavior which is the art of acquiring, organizing, remembering and using information. If our cognitive behavior is acceptable we will be able to judge and reason properly and have a thorough recognition of our surroundings. For many years it was thought that our intelligence quotient could not be changed that the intelligence that we were born with was what we would live with forever. This way of thinking has been disproved and researchers have found that our brains could be trained to make us smarter and more aware. This applies also to memory training.

As we acquire information we organize it into either short term or long term memory and retrieve it in order to use it. As we get older or as our lives become more hectic and stressful we have the tendency to forget certain things. Most annoying are the things we are sure we have known and just cannot pull it up. Remember the saying “it’s on the tip of my tongue…..” There is no need to forget many things and proper memory training can help you to remember those things most important for you to remember or things you just want to recall when necessary. In the problem posed here where you have the word on the tip of your tongue and remember all there is to remember about and around the word itself but not the word, the best thing is to relax and wait and it will come to you without any effort You will often hear someone say “I will probably remember it at three in the morning” and that can happen because at three in the morning the  brain will be relaxed and the subject will not be taxing it.

What’s interesting about memory training is that it does not take a lot of effort although effort is part of it. What your brain needs is exercise and proper nutrition in order to train the memory. The use of mnemonics which is the practice of rhyme and acronyms to remember or the use of word and number games are all suggested for memory training. Learning a new language is also suggested as a way of memory training.  Eating a healthy and nutritious diet and a regimen of physical exercise will help the body as well as the brain. Physical exercise can cause the brain to become more active and accept memory training more readily than a sluggish and inactive brain. The brain needs stimulation and by stimulating the brain you will learn about memory training first hand. Play a game with your brain to induce stimulation. Do something out of the ordinary like eating with your other hand instead of the one you usually use. Change the routine in how you dress in the morning. Memory training is the act of stimulating the brain by making it do something out of the ordinary.
